“I’m trying to learn something new. I’m trying to surround myself with people that inspire me, or at least inquire similar desire.” Kendrick Lamar expresses how learning from people with positive inspirations can help you get through this thing we call life. New California artists share their testimony of how they made it in the music industry.
Meet Ramon Perio (@ramonperio1) originally from San Jose, California. It’s difficult to keep your hope alive when your not settle in one place, but Ramon didn't let that stop him. “My downtime and negative people keep me going. It might sound intense, but when I’m not doing music I don’t feel alive. So my haters and my passion and authentic love for what I do keep me going.” said Ramon. With Oakland being his last stop, he receives that one phone call from an LA producer that lead an helping hand to launch his career
Being the lead singer in a group with another artist’s name Moe Maurice. Their new single “Ball Till You Fall” has brought the dancers out the woodworks. Musicians in the industry with words of wisdom can bring aspirations. “It’s not the harder worker, the best looking, or the most popular that win. It’s the most adaptable. If you can adapt to any situation that comes your way you will be successful” advice given to Ramon. Ramon keys to success were “To not rely on other people for your own success whether that be management, agents, producers or whatever to move forward with your career and to not be focused on fame. Fame is fake. Always be in training mode meaning focus on creating and developing your craft and don’t hold back or be afraid for people to see you make a mistake.” Make sure to see the “Ball Till You Fall” video below:

Kalan is now based in Atlanta and leaves the newbies with some advice on how to get to where you are today:

Have you ever taken a moment and look at your life and ask yourself “it has to be deeper than this”. Garren (@garren) shows us this experience with his new EP called “Deeper Than This”. Garren based in Compton showed us how he faced life head-on. Being one of seven siblings, knowing he had to make the best for him and his family. “The struggles that my family and I went through and go through, and the hunger to want to provide and make life easier on me, my loved ones, and the world,” said Garren.
With Garren being God driven he knew God had a purpose for him. Personally, I strive for artists every day that lives their lives to the fullest. Garren didn’t allow his atmosphere to create a negative path for him. I enjoyed the whole EP and can’t wait for him to drop his new album “Normal”. Stay tuned. His creative mind is on another level. Imagine seven of your favorite artists in the same room making a record that will be heart throbbing. Who would be the mastermind behind making this happen? Garren has dreamed of this and will make it happen one day.
The last words of wisdom Garren wanted to leave for upcoming artists:
“I would say the humility and gratefulness for the position you are in currently. Learn how to appreciate it and find the good in any situation and to find the things you are grateful for within your current situation”
